7 Steps to $ave Hundreds on Hotels

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

With the dollar getting weaker, it is important to squeeze every bit of value you can when finding a hotel. This is how you do it.

Step 1) Checked this site ,Hotwire.  Fill out this dynamic link with the name of city closest to the airport. This is the highest price you should pay for a hotel.

Step 2) Check that price using this Search Engine we designed with Google, and don’t forget to put in the word Hotel COUPONS! It searches this web as well as the rest of the internet to make sure we haven’t missed the lowest price for the second you look.

Step 3) Check the categories HERE to see if there may be another title that is related which could give a better deal in a way you have not thought of. These categories are “smart” in the sense they look at the cookies from all the sites you have been and find the common thread.

Step 4) Check the links from Step 2 in the “NonRev Deals Updated Daily by Google on” box really want you business and will do what ever it takes.

Step 5) Next, call the Hotel with the Hotel List below to see if you can negotiate a lower deal

Step 6) Go to other travel bid sites, like Priceline.com and put your bid in at least 3 days prior.

Step 7) If your bid doesn’t materialize or if you want a specific hotel in a specific area, go back to Hotwire and select city closest to airport and reserve your room. Its that easy!

SAVE MONEY IN ROME AT CAFES.

THE ROME REPORT: written by Liza Salvatore (Roman historian/Papal scholar)

SAVE MONEY IN ROME AT CAFE`S. If getting a coffee on Via Veneto or some other tourist spot in Rome, keep in mind that your coffee at the stand up bar is 1/4th the price of the same coffee if you sit down at a table and order it from a waiter. This is especially important on Via Veneto where a coffee/espresso can cost you 4-5 Euro/$6.00.

Sting Operation in Rome at Restaurants

Friday, August 28th, 2009

THE ROME REPORT: written by Liza Salvatore (Roman historian/Papal scholar)

You can get fined in Rome if you have the  wrong Reciept for your meal.

Look to see if the restaurant is giving you an official receipt known as a ricevuta fiscale which has the proprietor’s social security number, etc. IF it does not, it means that they are not paying taxes on what they have charged you so don’t feel obligated to leave anything more than a few coins. I would suggest in any case that you get a “ricevuta fiscale” an official receipt because you are in danger of being caught in a sting with the Guardia di Finanza who may think you are colluding with the restaurant to help them avoid paying income tax. YOU are required to have a ricevuta fiscale when you walk out of a restaurant, a store, a coffee house and may be asked to provide it if the Guardia di Finanza is spot checking.

Screw Your Buddy Pass

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I was in the pilot lounge today when I heard a conversation about someone trying to get a friend from Seattle to Atlanta. He jumped through the hoops in the pass bureau to find it would cost $320 round trip. His friend Said thanks but no thanks because on line he could get a one way ticket for $139… for everything including Tax! You do the math. The pilot called the pass bureau again because he thought there was a mistake made with the buddy pass.

The person at the pass bureau said that that was correct fare. He asked why it was so high. The answer was ‘you have to understand that YOU have to pay for the taxes. The pilot said, if that is true, the fare on the internet has less tax than our buddy passes, right? There was silence. Not to let this fact go he added ..’Or is the company making money off us?’

So I went to my company’s pass webpage and got the price. Then I went to the Internet and used my search engine at NONREWEBSITE.  And put in the city pair. The prices at the top and right side were more than enough proof of this story. But as I always say, don’t take my word for it, go to my search engine with the city pair, look at the results, especially at the top and right and click on the to see what the total price is. Then, try the same with Google to be sure. The results will surprise you.

New Jumpseat Tool

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

The Airline Pilots Association has just put the finishing touches on their National Jumpseat Page. It was created as a one stop site for commuters and pilots traveling. The public portion is open to all.

On the Public portion you will see several Links. Here are a few;

  • Airline Jumpseat Procedures – These are several Airlines and their Jumpseat Polocies. It also gives contact numbers and websites to disseminate as much information as possible on getting a jumpseat.
  • Jumpseat Etiquette – This is a guide to tell you what is acceptable when Jumpseating.
  • TSA complaint form – The TSA is looking for your input to make the system better. Here is the document for you to help them improve the system.
  • FDX Jumpseat Finder – Allows you to find a jumpseat on Fed Ex and gives the contact information.
  • UPS Flight Finder – Allows you to find a jumpseat on UPS and gives the contact information.
  • Flight Explorer – Lists ALL flights between cites.

This ais a great tool for all those who commute to get to job. It is also helpful if you are traveling and trying to find a way to get home. To see this site, go to http://jumpseat.alpa.org/ To see this and other Nonrev Links, go to Useful Non-Rev Websites

Top Reason You Can’t Nonrev

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

If you want to Nonrev this summer because you got a great Interline Deal, I have some Bad news for you, Cargo. It seems the Airlines are getting more cargo to supplement the light loads and that can ruin your nonrev travel plans.
Interline Travel has not yet gotten world on the influx of cargo on passenger aircraft because no one has told them and they believe this will be a great summer to non-rev. Unfortunately the hardest flights that will be hit is non rev international travel. These flights are carrying the most cargo.
But if you are lucky, it will just be a weight and balance issue meaning you will have to ride in coach. So if you are boarding and are going to the back of the airplane and see open seats up front, don’t push them too hard about an upgrade or you will be kissing your non rev discount goodbye.
So if you are going to try those non-rev travel passes, try to find out if the flight will have a cargo issue. This will also be helpful in finding your chance of getting business class.

If you get stuck and need information on how to get out of a city, try the Nonrev Timetable.

Get On The Flights They say are FULL

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Ever have someone tell you the flight is full only to find out from a friend it wasn’t? Then you need to know the tips below so you will NEVER miss that important flight. I almost gave up on trying to attempt this feat, The System showed full. THE COMPUTERS WERE WRONG. These are this advice.

  1. First, go to the code share WEB SITE and find the flights you want.
  2. Next CALL THE PARTNER. By NOT calling the airline you get BAD INFORMATION. I tried getting code share loads through my airline, they only give availability for the Seats they reserve. Over a quarter of a 747 was empty even though my airline said less then 18 seats available.
  3. Then you show up at the airport on the day of the flight at the CODE SHARE TICKET COUNTER. They will help you get of the flight, just tell them you are a code share employee, show identification, and most importantly – SMILE.
  4. HAVE PAPER TICKETS WITH YOU. If you need to fill out a paper ticket to get of the flight, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EXTRA TICKET STOCK.
  5. Finally, go to the gate and check in, then sit back and RELAX, you have done all the work, and now it will pay off!
  6. Always, Always, Always dress business professional and you should get just about anywhere you want to fly.
