No, you don’t have to pretend to be the Pope to get into the Vatican Museum for free. This museum with thousands of masterpieces worth millions is free of charge to those who can read a calendar. If you go the last Sunday of the Month, all the areas are free. This includes the Sistine Chapel with the remarkable ceiling. But there is still one problem that I have the tip for solving.
The Problem is there is too much to see in one day. There are so many rooms that if you tried to soak it all in, you would never see the last and most important piece, the Sistine Chapel. A person who worked in the Vatican and is now a Tour Guide told me the secret. When you enter go all the way through the Museum and as you walk notice what catches your eye.
This solution has you go all the way through getting an overview of the Museum with plenty of time to view and absorb the Sistine Chapel which is really why you go here to begin with. Then if you have time left, you can go back through and look more closely at the things that caught your attention. And if the line to get in is very long, this secret could save you wasting time and missing Michelangelo’s masterpiece.

Secret to Getting the Most out of the Vatican Museum FOR FREE
Friday, April 24th, 2009World’s Best Race Car Museum
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009Video of The New Porsche Museum
Like some of you, I have been counting the days until the Porsche Museum was opened. With the opening of the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart, Porsche did everything it could to top it’s rival, from cutting edge architecture to user friendly high-tech advancements. The result were incredible.
For 8 Euro, you can gain access to over 100 years of German Automotive Engineering at its finest and a personal audio guide. The great about the guide is it explains pieces in the museum at the pace and structure that suits your personal desires without disturbing others. Besides the audio guide, there are displays of cars and components coordinated with video whose feed goes directly into your personal tour guide.
This is a racing enthusiast’s museum that any engineer would love. From the very first display, an electric hub drive, the talk is about speed. The rest of the museum explains how Porsche took basic principles on light weight, aerodynamics, and power, and kept refining them until they reached the panicle of where they are today.
Best Deal in New York, FREE FOOD
Friday, April 10th, 2009For many, dinner in New York cost more than a bad investment tip. For others it can cost less than tap water . The secret is to know where to look. And if you look hard enough, free is what you find.
In New York, I’ve found it’s the Place called Rudy’s Bar and Grill. People come for the cheap beer and the free hotdogs. It may be a dive bar, but you will find everyone from the richest on Wall Street to college kids. The food is free as long as the “hot dog guy” is there. They even have a 100 foot square projection screen.
For a $5 pitcher, you can feed your friends. How can you top that? I don’t know if I can, but I am going to have fun trying… for all of you, of course
Where Caesar was Killed
Sunday, April 5th, 2009Did you ever wonder where Julius Caesar was killed? It was not at the front of the Roman Forum. He was assassinated in the Theater of Pompey, where the Roman Senate was meeting temporarily while the old Senate House (a.k.a. “Curia”) in the Roman Forum was being reconstructed under Caesar’s orders as Dictator.
That’s why the surviving Senate House in the Forum is called the Curia Julia, it’s the one that Julius Caesar founded and completed by his nephew/heir Octavian Caesar (later the Emperor Augustus) after he consolidated his power following the assassination and subsequent Civil War. It is amazing that it has survived to this day, relatively intact.
The Theater of “Pompeus” had a special Curia where Senators would meet to discuss politics, and this is where Brutus acted on the “Ides of March.” There is a Restaurant over the spot which they will let you see the exact spot. This is a great place to eat and experience history.

Lessons from Mumbia – How to Keep Terrorists Away
Thursday, March 26th, 2009We have just received some new information about the Terrorist Plot in Mumbai. It appears that the Terrorists could not go to each room looking for victims at the hotel because there where thousands of rooms and they were a small force. Their solution was to knock on the doors that had a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the doorknob.
A solution to this problem is to call room service and tell them not to disturb you. Keep the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign off you door. Take advise from people who learned this lesson the hard way.
Please pass this on to all you know. It may save their life. If you would like more travel tips from expert travelers, go to the Road Warrior section on NonRevWebsite.com

Cafe Spiaggia and Restaurant Week
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009Today my wife and I went to one of the restaurants featured in Restaurant Week, Café Spiaggia which claims it has the best Gnocchi in Chicago. For $22 a person we had an salad, entrée, and a dessert. The Entrée was a pasta dish and the dessert was either gelato or sorbet. I have to admit, this pasta reminded me of Rome it was so good. Our waiter, who was more like the V-P of Marketing, was unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable. As a matter of fact, when you go there, ask for Greg.
They gave us a table by the window that was very intimate and had great view of Michigan Avenue. These tables are discreet enough that you can eat by yourself without being too obvious.
All in all this was an excellent experience. Would we go here if there wasn’t a special fixed menu, as a matter of fact we were talking about it. Restaurant Week just pushed off top dead center to go. I think Restaurant Week, the last week in February, is a great motivating force to get people out to experience great restaurants and make them realize how many amazing restaurants we have.
Pleasure or Pork
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009As a resident of Chicago working in Atlanta, I get asked about the Earmarked Project that caused an uproar. Remember last year when a Presidential Candidate talked about the $3 Million dollar Pork Barrel overhead projector?
Now you can see that overhead projector for free. That’s Right, the Adler Planetarium has free days, or as they call them Discount Days. For the General Public that means a savings of $10.
Besides viewing Chicago’s most famous Pork Project, there are several great exhibits on my favorite subject, Travel. In this case it is Space Travel and the destination is the Moon. The exhibit titled Shoot for the Moon includes “exciting stories of space exploration and America’s bold plans to return to the Moon.” It’s devided into two parts. The first, A Journey with Jim Lovell, tells the history of space travel while Mission Moon describes our future plans to returning and colonizing the moon. There is even an interactive section on what space travel will be like for young astronauts.
